Kenya Safari: MOUNT KENYA, SAMBURU, RIFT VALLEY & MAASAI MARA

Day 1: NAIROBI HOTEL
Arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your Nairobi hotel by our airport representative where you enjoy a restful evening in preparation for your safari the following day.
DAY 2: MOUNTAIN LODGE
After breakfast, we begin our safari and drive North through agricultural farmlands to the famed Mountain Lodge Serena, one of three "tree hotels" in Kenya and arguably one of the best. Each room in this largest wooden storey building has a balcony overlooking a saltlick and waterhole from where you can enjoy the finest game viewing on the slopes of Mt. Kenya. You will visit an open-air market, a hive of activities where the local natives are engaged in sale of their agricultural harvests. We arrive in time for lunch and with enough time to acquaint ourselves with this highly unusual setting. Dinner and overnight at Serena Mountain Lodge.
DAY 3, 4: SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
After a hearty breakfast we travel North as we head for the northern frontier district, Samburu/Buffalo Springs Reserve. Game viewing in these parks is excellent and there are species found here that are found nowhere else, such as the beautiful gerenuk, Gravy’s Zebra and reticulated giraffe. Samburu’s the cousins of the Maasais, harmoniously live with animals in this semi-arid region. Lunch, Dinner and Overnight at Samburu Serena Lodge.
DAY 5: MOUNT KENYA SAFARI CLUB
After breakfast, depart for Nanyuki to the famous Mount Kenya Safari Club. This resort, set exactly on the Equator, was a dream brought to life by the late actor William Holden. It hosts royalty, heads of state, celebrities (including Stephanie Powers, star of the 1980s hit TV series Hart to Hart, a frequent visitor deeply involved in the animal orphanage) and offers all one expects in a luxury resort and more. You will visit a lower school en route to the club. Conde Nast magazines have ranked this as one of the top 20 resorts in the world. Lunch, Dinner and Overnight at Mount Kenya Safari Club.
DAY 6: LAKE NAKURU
Breakfast at the beautiful Mount Kenya Safari Club after which you bid this resort and proceed into the Great Rift Valley onto the world famous bird sanctuary. Lake Nakuru is known for its huge flocks of flamingos and pelicans. Its multifaceted shores and surrounding woodlands are also home to some 400 species of birds, including during the northern winter, many migratory European species. Lake Nakuru is also home to leopards, rhinos and Rothschild's giraffe and other game. Lunch, Dinner and Overnight at Sarova Lion Hill.
DAY 7 & 8: MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE
This morning we bid farewell to Lake Nakuru National Park then drive to the Masai Mara Game Reserve, arriving in time for lunch. Masai Mara is the destination of millions of grazing animals traveling North from the Serengeti. It is Kenya 's most renowned wildlife sanctuary. Due to the large numbers of grazing animals, the Mara supports one of Africa 's highest concentrations of predators. Your home for the next two nights will be the beautiful Mara Serena Safari Lodge. This beautiful lodge, set atop a hill overlooking Mara plains, offers an excellent vantage point for game viewing and spectacular sunsets. Here you can experience an included Bush Breakfast by the Hippo Pool. This is a highlight of the trip for many people. While in the Mara, you can also indulge yourself in an optional hot-air balloon excursion. You will never forget the experience! All meals at Mara Serena Safari Lodge.
DAY 9: NAIROBI DEPART
One last morning game drive, to etch the Mara scenes in your memory, breakfast, and, though difficult, it's time to meet mid-morning flight to Nairobi.
